Snooker Rules

Snooker is played with 15 non-numbered solid red balls, 6 colored non numbered balls, and the white cue ball. The goal in snooker is to pocket the balls and score more points than your opponent. The point values of the colored balls are:

" red-1
" yellow-2
" green-3
" brown-4
" blue-5
" pink-6
" black-7.

The game begins with the cue ball that must be placed in the half circle on the table. The player breaking has to hit a red ball first and every shot has to be completed within one minute or it is a foul.

A hit when the next legal ball is one of the red balls is ok when the white ball is not potted, the white ball strikes a red ball first and only red balls are potted. Otherwise the strike of the ball is a foul.

A hit on the red ball is legal if no red ball is potted and then the opposing player is next. When a red ball is potted the player receives the number of points which is the amount of red balls they have potted. The player's next legal objects to hit are the colored balls.

A hit, when the next legal ball is a colored ball, is legal when the white ball is not potted, there are still red balls on the table and one of the colored balls is first hit by the white ball, there are no more red balls on the table and the lowest point value colored ball is hit first, and only the ball that was first struck by the white ball is to be potted. If none of these three things happen the strike is a foul.

A hit on a colored ball is legal when no ball is potted and then the opposing player is next. When a colored ball has been potted then the player's points go up by the value of the colored ball that has been potted. The player's next legal ball to hit is a red ball. If there are not any more red balls on the table the next legal ball to hit is the ball that has the lowest point value.

For a foul the flowing points are given the opponent:

" 4 points if the white ball has been potted
" 4 points if the player exceeds one minute per shot
" If the white ball first hits the incorrect ball then the opponent receives the value of that ball
" If the wrong ball is potted first the opponent receives the value of that ball

If a strike of the balls results in more than one foul the opponent receives the points from the foul that has the highest point value. When committing a foul the opposing player can play the ball as they lie or pass on the shot.
